Upcoming Research Initiative
The "Delta-wave generator project".
One of the most important questions in sleep medicine is: What restores us during sleep and makes us feel fresh in the morning? If we knew the answer to this then we could improve our methods of diagnosis of sleep disorders and be better positioned to design new treatments for them. When people are refreshed they think and work more productively and enjoy life more. Some sleep scientists believe that it is the delta waves that refresh us; hence the interest in understanding them better. They are the large hills and valleys seen on electro-encephalogram. They are shown in the images above. We have already made still images and movies of a single delta wave.
For our latest discovery of a new kind of delta wave, please click here.
If the project is successful, it will have demonstrated that DECI is a useful tool for answering questions that other existing technologies have failed to resolve. We wouldlike to determine if the delta waves of slow wave sleep are fundamentally one entity with two parts. Or, is it fundamentally two separate entities. Up until recently, leaders in the field divided slow wave sleep into Stage 3 and Stage 4, but of late there has been a strong move to amalgamate the stages and consider them as one.
We are anxious to apply DECI to see if it can resolve this question by making still images and 3-D brain movies of Stages 3 and 4 to determine if the generator locations are the same. To that end we are collaborating with the Toronto General Hospital's prestigious sleep labs. This research may be critical for understanding how sleep restores and refreshes a person. This project requires funding. We are seeking either a donor to the hospital in which case it would be tax deductible or an investor in Lullaby in return for shares. The funding requirement is $17,000. Interested parties should contact Dr. Mark Doidge by email or telephone at +1 647 352 5232 for further details.
